Over the years, the SWANA Caribbean-Puerto Rico has incorporated over 60 members not only from Puerto Rico, but also from other islands such as the Bahamas, Jamaica, Haiti, the Cayman Islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Knowledge of applicable waste management best practices is vital in order to improve operations, including managerial aspects, and ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements as well as protecting the environment and occupational health and safety.
