GREEN-PR Internship
The GREEN-PR Network is an environmental leadership program designed to develop professional experience and leadership in sustainable development initiatives across Puerto Rico. This program focuses on Sustainable Materials Management (SMM), which includes reduction, reuse, recycling, food preservation, and composting. GREEN-PR was established to create a replicable model for environmental education and stewardship. It aims to empower local NGOs by providing them with trained interns who can assist in implementing SMM programs in various settings, such as schools, community centers, and events.
The SWANA Caribbean Chapter has been a proud participant in the GREEN-PR Network for several consecutive years. This partnership has been mutually beneficial in several ways:
Enhanced Project Capacity: Interns from the GREEN-PR program have significantly increased the chapter’s ability to undertake and manage various environmental projects.
Diverse Expertise: The interns bring a wide range of skills and fresh perspectives, helping the chapter address complex environmental challenges more effectively.
Community Engagement: By working with local interns, the chapter has strengthened its ties with the community, fostering greater public awareness and participation in waste management initiatives.
Sustainable Impact: The collaboration has led to the successful implementation of numerous SMM projects, contributing to the overall sustainability goals of the region.
By being part of the GREEN-PR Network, the SWANA Caribbean Chapter continues to advance its mission of promoting sustainable waste management practices while providing valuable learning experiences for the next generation of environmental leaders.
